Ooh, yea. A little more to the left…

It has been a week since I last posted.  That is unusual for me as I enjoy boring keeping you briefed on my whereabouts and happenings.

Let me sum up for you a few of this past week’s newsworthy facts from around the country,  in case you missed them:

1.  Shia LaBeouf was arrested after a theater outburst – Shia, Shia, what are we going to do with this bag-over-his-head Transformer?

2. A California Nanny would not leave the home of the family that hired her after being fired – now she has gone missing

3. Rob Lowe‘s French vacation home almost got washed away in a storm

4. Two men (in New Jersey) threw away a $1M lottery ticket, after thinking it was a loser because the lottery website had not updated the winning numbers – they are suing the state.

5.  A new report by US psychologists suggests that one-night stands can boost life satisfaction and self-esteem – Hmmmm…. Read about it here.

 6.  USA got eliminated in the World Cup – Olé to Tim Howard , though.

7.  Cheerleader posts selfies with big game hunted in Africa – and this is news because…

**8.  Corporations can now (for religious beliefs) choose not to pay for some contraception for women as part of their health insurance, yet will continue to pay for  men’s condoms, vasectomies and Viagra.  This sounds perfectly fair to me.  Don’t even get me started…

But, enough about what is happening around the country; let me tell you about some  real and exciting news:

1.  My daughter is back from her trip to Puerto Rico (where the drinking age is 18) with her three girlfriends (who are 18 and can drink in PR), safe and in one piece (did I tell you the drinking age in PR is 18?) Phew.

2.  My son began his internship with our local police department.  He needs to wear a shirt and tie and will shadow some detectives and officers.  I am secretly hoping he hates the whole idea but I have a feeling I am going to lose this battle.  He has two more years of college, a lot can change, right? 🙂

3.  Mr. B took me on a wonderful walk on a bike path before the oppressive heat hit the Valley and we sort of fell in love with each other all over again.  I know that sounds corny but you should have seen the elderly couple walking behind us holding hands the whole way.  They were giddy with excitement as they told us that they had been married for 60 years and were still in love.  That did it for us.  Utter Adorableness.

4.  I had a reunion with three childhood friends whom I adore.  We lived in the same neighborhood growing up and were inseparable.  I hope we can continue to meet up in spite of the distance that separates us.

5.  Remember how I signed up for a jewelry making class?  No? Well, I did and I went.  The best thing about the class was that I was the only student who signed up. SCORE!  A private two-hour free lesson.  Oh, yes I did.  Take a look at the creations I made for my twin nieces who have a birthday coming up this month.

*Move over, K Jewelers.  Every kiss begins with B.

6.  I have mysteriously developed the case of the itchies.  I am going insane scratching away.  Every part of my body itches.  I need to go get this checked out soon.

I found this scratcher tucked away in the basement and it has  been my salvation.

Ooh…ahh…yea…

There is  nothing better than scratching an itch.   I know, I know –  I always talk about gadgets (ie. battery operated necklace fan) but when you find something that works, it is complete happiness.

Happy 4th of July My Friends!

  1. I have the same back scratcher!!! Great minds, huh?
I have to laugh at some of the items on the list! Life is ridiculous sometimes, isn’t it? Sounds like your family though has been very busy.
Wow! Your jewelry is beautiful! I hope your nieces appreciate all of the hard work!

  2. Sounds like you’ve been a busy lady Maria! All good stuff though, the stuff of life. As for the itches, I have an itch on my right shoulder blade that never goes away and I can never reach it so I drive hubby mad with getting him to scratch it for me and it still doesn’t go away! There is nothing there so I have no idea what it is. Had it ages. I hope you get to the bottom of what is causing yours..it’s horrible. Love your jewellery creations too, your nieces will be thrilled. Hope you had a great 4th of July 😎

  3. My hubby uses me or wall corners as back scratchers. LOL! Glad to hear your daughter made it safely. Fingers crossed that regardless of what your son does, he’ll be safe. And I, too, love hearing about long love stories.

  4. I also have a back scratcher at work. One of the simplest and best things I own.

As for that soccer thing. Meh – time to ignore soccer again for four years.

If I threw away that lottery ticket I would shoot myself!

Hope you had a great July 4th!

  7. Gosh wacko news! Glad your daughter is back okay and had fun. I hope you find out what the itching is all about. I wrote a poem about itching once.

    1. Right? So much wacko news out there. I am so relieved that my daughter is back and safe only because her and her friends are gorgeous 18 year old young women who were on their own, unsupervised in a hopping and happening location. Thank goodness my mother was there to keep an eye on them. 🙂

The itchiness continues today but a bit less than yesterday. I will figure this out. I should have written a poem about my itching, that would have been fun!

    1. Welcome and thank you kindly for visiting. 🙂 I didn’t even include the real depressing news because reading about that once, is enough. Glad you liked my news better. LOL. Enjoy your weekend!

  8. I am itching non-stop too, but mine is the result of mosquitos from the fireworks-watching night on the beach. 😦 Yet another reason that I love Vegas — no bugs. No bugs + no humidity makes it my kind of place.

And YAY for the romantic walk and falling in love with Mr. B all over again! That made me smile!

    Happy 4th of July, Maria!

    1. Thanks, Nancy! I was actually wondering about mosquitos when I read your post about waking to the beach to watch the fireworks. No bugs would be wonderful and NO humidity sounds heavenly.

I need to figure this itchy thing out PRONTO! It’s tough to walk around with my necklace fan around my neck and my back scratcher in my hand. I am getting lot’s of…looks! 🙂 Happy 4th to you!

  9. “Every kiss begins with B.” Ha ha…that’s priceless, Maria! As is your jewelry…it’s beautiful! I love the owls!
Wasn’t that crazy about the nanny who wouldn’t leave? I didn’t hear about the New Jersey guys and their million dollar ticket…bummer.
I’m glad your daughter made it home safe from PR. I’m sure she had a great time. That’s cool about your son. I work for the police department and it is very interesting work, but perhaps doing the internship will guide him into a different direction.
As far as the itching, you might want to get your thyroid levels checked out. Have a great 4th of July, Maria! xoxo

    1. I meant to say, every beso begins with b. 🙂 I had fun making the bracelets and earrings. I can’t believe it just took a two hour class for me to learn what I learned. I didn’t know you worked for the police department, that is very cool. 🙂 My son is pretty serious about law enforcement right now so I will need to wrap my head around this and accept it. As long as he is happy and safe.

Interesting on the thyroid being the culprit of my itchiness. I have felt this before but this is the worst. It’s driving me bananas, Jill. I will call on Monday if it continues. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. xo

    1. Thank you so much for visiting! What a great idea to call my new jewelry business B’s Baubles. BBs. I also think if I say the little jingle in Spanish, it will go better: Todos los besos empiezan con B. 🙂

  10. Welcome to your fifties! I developed an allergy to bees and Percocet in my fifties! Never had a problem with either of them until I turned the big five-o. Very weird. At least I’m not allergic to sangria 😉

  11. Good thing your Mr. B still scratches the itch, Mrs. B. Seriously, though, go get that checked out, don’t you think? I wouldn’t want you to do something rash. Daughter may have had a drink or three in Puerto Rico. Son may catch a crook or two over the summer. You and Mr. B can look forward to walking the same path 25 more years … Life is good. Happy holiday weekend, Mrs. B! Get that itch checked, please!

    1. I did cover a lot of ground in this post, didn’t I? Thanks for addressing almost every topic! 🙂 Mr. B doesn’t scratch the itch enough so thank goodness for my handy scratcher. I do have to get it checked out because it’s driving me crazy. Our fireworks are postponed until tomorrow which should be very nice weather. Enjoy your weekend! 🙂

      1. Nothing worse than an itch that won’t go away, I don”t think. Puleeeeze, I would be saying, stop. Stop. Stop. Calamine lotion? That’ll dry up just about any kind of bite or rash. Aloe is good for a burn. There’s my radio station, armchair dermatology. My attempt to scratch your itch, Mrs. B. 🙂

It’s sunny here as we get ready for the baseball game/fireworks spectacular. I hope you and your Mr. B have a great replacement holiday day tomorrow!

    1. Interesting, Jackie! I’ve had the itches before but this is the worse ever. I feel like I have creepy crawly tiny bugs all over me! So frustrating. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for the compliment on my first pieces of jewelry. 🙂
